Project G: Black Tortoise the North God Concept Art

Blacksmith NPC character concept art for Project G, inspired by the Black Tortoise of East Asian mythology. A winter-themed master craftsman who forges and repairs player gear, with a fiery reinterpretation of the traditional halo to reflect his trade.

My main focus was the fast iteration approach and variations for R&D character in early production.

The biggest challenge was balancing the Black Tortoise’s signature black coloration with the cool-toned winter environment, while keeping a clear silhouette between skin and outfit. Careful value control and selective use of accent colors helped emphasize focal points and maintain a strong visual hierarchy.
